Spotlight on a League Member - For April/May

Super volunteer, Gloria Suarez Sasser, San Marcos Area, is being recognized for her dedication to the League of Women Texas. Gloria travels around the state, from El Paso to Mc Allen to Longview working with local Leagues and MAL members. She is currently the Training Schedule Coordinator, a trainer, the new League organizer, and helps MAL members form new Leagues. Gloria encourages local Leagues to participate in voter service activities, program and activities that will increase membership of local Leagues. She also serves as the Criminal Justice program chair, following Criminal Justice and Capital Punishment issues and writing and giving testimony during the legislative session when needed.

On the state level, she served as a director for two years while serving as the Capital Punishment study committee chair. She was Organization Vice-president for two terms.

Gloria has been a League member since 1993 and was a founding member of LWV-Comal Area. She served the Comal Area League as President, Organizational Vice-president, and Director. She was chair of the local League Immigration study committee, served on the Juvenile Justice Study committee, as membership chair, and the Roast fundraising committee where she designed the invitations and program for the roasts. She was on the Publication committee and served as the VOTER editor. Presently, she is a member of LWV-San Marcos and serves as the Program Vice-President.

Gloria and her husband Dalton live in Seguin and have four children and six grandchildren.
